Prof. LU Geyu’s research fields include Chemical Sensors (gas sensors based on semiconducting oxides, solid electrolytes, polymers and catalysts, humidity sensors), Sensor Systems and Smart Instruments, Nanomaterials, as well as Dye Sensitized/Perovskite Solar Cell. He has published over 400 SCI retrieval papers in international journals, including over 220 papers on Sensors and Actuators B, with more than 13,000 SCI citations and H-index: 63. Besides, he authorized one international invention patent and 51 China’s national invention patents, two of which have been transferred to enterprises, and he made more than 40 plenary or invited reports at important domestic and international academic conferences. In addition, he presided National Natural Science Foundation of National Major Scientific Instruments Research Projects (Key Projects), Key Projects of International Cooperation, 863 Plan, and Education Innovation Team, etc. Moreover, he obtained some awards including First Prize of Natural Science Award of Jilin Province (First person, 2017), Second Prize for Science and Technology Progress of National Ministry of Machinery (1997), Third Prize for Science and Technology Progress of National Education Committee (1991), Research Significant Achievement Award of the Seventh-Five Year National Science and Technology Commission (1990), Quality Improvement Excellence Award in Yamazaki Institute of Technology, Japan (2004) and Top Quality Award in Tokyo Gas Company of Japan (2005).

Research Areas

1. Gas Sensors: MEMS/Semiconducting oxides/Solid electrolytes/ Catalytic combustion/ Conducting polymer type gas sensor

2. Biosensors: Fluorescence and Electrochemical Biosensors

3. Sensor Systems and Advanced Instrument: The development of sensor system and advanced equipment using sensors, including the environmental pollution gas in-situ monitoring and gas processing system, air pollution real-time monitoring sensor network, home combustible gas alarm system, electronic nose, portable wearable sensor systems, exhale marker monitoring system and the evaluation systems and equipment of sensor characteristic and the reliability.

4. Advanced sensing materials: Low-dimensional, porous and hierarchical oxide semiconducting nanomaterials, MOF materials, new solid electrolyte and oxide sensing electrodes materials, new combustion catalyst, new conducting polymer or composite sensing materials, organic semiconductor material, MXene or composite sensing materials, new carbon-based sensing materials, new photoelectric materials, biosensing materials……
