报告人简介:

Feng Wang is a Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the City University of Hong Kong. He received his BE (2001) and PhD (2006) degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from Zhejiang University under the supervision of Prof. Minquan Wang and Prof. Xianping Fan. He then carried out postdoctoral research work with Prof. Xiaogang Liu at the National University of Singapore and the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering in Singapore before joining the CityU faculty in 2012. His research focuses on the design, synthesis, mechanistic understanding, and applications of micro‑ and nanostructured luminescent materials. Prof. Wang is a founding member of the Hong Kong Young Academy of Sciences and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. He is a recipient of the Hong Kong Research Grants Council Research Fellowship and has been recognized as a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher.

报告摘要:

Luminescent materials play a vital role in a wide range of technological applications, including lighting, displays, information security, and optoelectronics. Ionic doping offers a powerful strategy for achieving highly tunable luminescence within a single host material. In this talk, I will present our recent efforts to incorporate lanthanide and transition‑metal ions into various host materials through rational compositional and structural design. By exploiting the intrinsic characteristics of these hosts, such as their unique responses to thermal and mechanical stimuli, we demonstrate enhanced control over luminescence processes and properties. These advances substantially expand the toolbox of doped luminescent materials, highlighting their considerable potential for emerging applications in information security, biomedical sciences, and advanced photonics.
